Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka, has expelled Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, a third-year student in the Department of History and International Studies, for assaulting Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Film Studies.
The announcement was made on Friday by the Acting Registrar, Victor Modebelu, following a report from the Student Disciplinary Committee. Chimamaka was found guilty of gross misconduct and violating the Students Disciplinary Regulations.
The altercation, which went viral on social media, started when Dr. Okoye asked Chimamaka to make way as she recorded a TikTok video in a hallway. The situation escalated when the lecturer overheard an insult, leading to a physical confrontation where Chimamaka bit him and tore his clothes. Both parties provided differing accounts, with the lecturer claiming physical assault and the student alleging harassment.
The university emphasized that Chimamaka must vacate the premises immediately, marking a strict stance against misconduct on campus.
