The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has released the estimated prices for petrol sourced from the Dangote Refinery, with prices set to exceed N1,000 per litre in certain northern states. This announcement was made in a statement by NNPC spokesperson Olufemi Soneye on Monday, outlining the September 2024 pricing structure.
According to the statement, petrol will be sold for as high as N1,019 per litre in Borno State, while Abuja, Sokoto, Kano, and Kaduna will see prices at N999.22 per litre. In the southern and central parts of Nigeria, prices will range from N950.22 in Lagos to N980.22 in Rivers and Imo States.
Here’s a breakdown of the prices by state:
- Lagos – N950.22
- Oyo – N960.22
- Imo – N980.22
- Rivers – N980.22
- Borno – N1,019
- Abuja – N999.22
- Sokoto – N999.22
- Kano – N999.22
- Kaduna – N999.22
The high price of petrol in the far north reflects transportation costs and logistics complexities in these regions. This marks a significant shift in fuel pricing across the country following the lifting of subsidies and the commencement of petrol supply from the Dangote Refinery.
