The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has refuted claims of reducing the pump prices of petrol and diesel. In a statement, the NNPCL spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, labeled these claims as false and urged Nigerians to disregard them. Reports circulating on social media platforms on Tuesday and Wednesday suggested that the NNPCL had slashed the pump price of petrol below N600 and diesel below N900.

The NNPCL clarified, stating, “The NNPC Limited wishes to clarify rumours suggesting a price adjustment for Premium Motor Spirit and Automotive Gas Oil at its retail stations nationwide. The company asserts that these reports are false and urges Nigerians to disregard them entirely.” The company emphasized its dedication to maintaining the current sufficiency in petroleum products supply across all its retail stations in the country.

It's essential to verify information before sharing it, especially on social media, where false claims can spread rapidly. The NNPCL's denial highlights the importance of relying on credible sources for news and information.
