The Kaduna State chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has praised Governor Uba Sani for approving the implementation of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) and Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for healthcare workers.
In a letter jointly signed by its Chairman, Ishaku Yakubu, and Secretary, Christiana Bawa, and addressed to the governor on Tuesday, the association described the move as a major act of fairness that has restored the confidence of nurses and midwives in the administration.
“This singular act of magnanimity and fairness has rekindled the hope of many dedicated nurses in your administration and in the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President,” the statement read.
The union said Governor Sani’s decision showed genuine concern for the welfare of health workers, despite the many competing demands on the state’s limited resources. It added that the policy has boosted staff morale, improved productivity, and positioned Kaduna as a model of labour-friendly governance in Nigeria.
“Your Excellency prioritised the well-being of health workers,” the council noted.
The group pledged continued loyalty and dedication to supporting the administration’s health sector reforms.
Earlier this month, on September 4, health workers across the state expressed relief after Governor Sani approved the implementation of CONHESS 2024 and hazard allowances, effective from September 2025. The announcement was made by NANNM Chairman, Ishaku Yakubu, at a press briefing in Kaduna.
