The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, affirmed on Saturday that the commissioning of the Vice President's residence by President Bola Tinubu on May 29 is on track. Wike expressed this during his inspection of the ongoing construction of the Vice President's residence, managed by Julius Berger Plc, in Abuja.
The construction of a new residence for the vice president was sanctioned in 2010 by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at a cost of N7 billion. However, the project was abandoned by the previous administration. The current administration resumed the renovation of the building project with a contract review of N15 billion.
The minister expressed optimism and satisfaction with the progress of the work, highlighting that the FCT is undergoing significant infrastructural development in line with Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. He disclosed plans to inaugurate several projects in the FCT to commemorate Tinubu's one year in office and to fulfill the President's agenda to restore the lost hope of Nigerians, aiming to enhance citizens' trust in the government.
Wike emphasized the importance of informing residents about the progress made, stating that it is crucial to showcase the achievements within one year of office to demonstrate the fulfillment of promises. He praised the infrastructure development in the FCT as a significant achievement, highlighting the positive changes in the region's structure.
