Ogun Govt Confirms Two Foreign Nationals Died in Anthony Joshua Crash

The Ogun State Government has confirmed that two people who lost their lives in the road accident involving world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, were foreign nationals.

The crash occurred shortly after 11am on Monday along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, around the Makun area, just before the Danco Filling Station near the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound lane.

According to eyewitness accounts, the Lexus SUV conveying Joshua collided with a stationary truck parked by the roadside.

In a statement released on Monday by the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the state government expressed deep sympathy to the families and loved ones of the deceased.

Providing further details, Akinmade explained that Joshua and three other individuals were travelling from Lagos to Sagamu when the accident occurred. Preliminary findings showed that two male foreign nationals died instantly at the scene. Their bodies have since been deposited at the Livewell Morgue in Sagamu.

The statement noted that Joshua and the driver of the vehicle were rescued by members of his security team and rushed to a hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.

It added that the SUV involved in the crash had been evacuated to the Sagamu Motor Traffic Division office, while arrangements were ongoing to tow the stationary truck for a full investigation into the incident.
