The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspected cultist, Peter Falola, popularly known as ‘Black Jesus,’ for alleged assault, arson, and property destruction valued at over ₦1.4 million in the Agbado area of the state.
According to the command's spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, Falola was apprehended on January 20, 2025, following an incident on January 15 at the residence of Oladipupo Adeniran on Ifelodun Street, Ago Ajeri, Agbado.
The suspect allegedly stormed Adeniran’s home around 9:00 a.m., threatening to burn it down. Reports indicate that Falola attacked Adeniran with an empty beer bottle, inflicting head injuries before setting the victim’s apartment on fire.
The arson destroyed valuable items, including a 6kg gas cylinder, a ceiling fan, an Itel Android phone, a set of chairs, eight aluminum windows, and portions of the sitting room and bedroom ceilings. The damages were estimated at over ₦1.4 million.
Odutola stated, “Falola invaded the home with violent threats, struck the victim with a bottle, and set fire to his belongings, causing extensive damage.”
Police officers from Agbado Police Station arrested the suspect following the report and conducted a crime scene investigation. Falola is currently in custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Abeokuta for further investigation.
The police have assured the public of a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.
