Ogun Police Reveal Pregnant Woman’s Fake Kidnap to Escape Husband’s Wrath After Miscarriage

In a surprising twist, the Ogun State Police Command disclosed that the alleged abduction of a pregnant woman, Rahemat Lateef, was a case of fake kidnapping. Rahemat, who was reported missing while heading to the state hospital in Ijaiye, Abeokuta, for childbirth, had in fact orchestrated the abduction to avoid her husband's reaction to yet another miscarriage.

The police spokesperson for the state, SP Omolola Odutola, shared the update on her X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday. Rahemat, having discovered she had suffered another miscarriage, decided to fake her own kidnapping to escape the anticipated anger and disappointment of her husband, Ogunbunmi Lateef.

Rahemat fled to Kwara State and later reappeared in Abeokuta with her father. The housewife was reportedly frustrated by repeated miscarriages and concocted the kidnapping story as a desperate measure.

SP Odutola provided further details, stating, “Rahemat Lateef, whom her husband reported as abducted, was never kidnapped. She planned her journey to Kwara State to avoid her husband’s reaction due to her unfortunate history of miscarriages. She fabricated the story of her abduction, traveled to Kwara State on her own, and was never actually kidnapped. She had a miscarriage, was frustrated by the repeated occurrences, and feared her husband’s response, leading her to create this script. The anti-kidnapping team tracked her until she resurfaced.”

Rahemat is currently receiving medical attention and is safe. Her husband had initially reported her abduction last Thursday, claiming to have received a WhatsApp message notifying him of the kidnapping by unknown armed men.

This incident highlights the extreme measures individuals may take under emotional distress and the importance of understanding and support in family dynamics, especially concerning sensitive issues like pregnancy and miscarriage.
