The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has called on Yoruba people to remain vigilant as Nigeria continues to grapple with growing security challenges.
This appeal was contained in a statement released by his Media Aide, Adeola Oloko, on Sunday in Ibadan. The monarch made the call during the Ode-Omu Day celebration in Osun State over the weekend.
Ode-Omu Day is an annual event where the community reviews its development achievements and plans for future progress.
Oba Ladoja praised the people of Ode-Omu, under the leadership of Alaye Ode-Omu, Oba Bolarinwa Oladipupo, for their commitment to community growth and unity.
He said, “Let me use this occasion to urge Yoruba people to be vigilant amid the security challenges facing Nigeria.”
The Olubadan reaffirmed Ibadan’s commitment to supporting Ode-Omu, announcing that Chief Tunde Afolabi, the Parakoyi of Ibadanland, would chair next year’s celebration.
Speaking earlier, former Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, reminded attendees that Ode-Omu was settled in 1909 by ancient Ibadan warriors. He also commended the royal fathers for their strong presence at the event.
