The Ondo State Police Command has arrested 25 suspects in connection with recent cult-related killings in the Owo community, Owo Local Government Area. Among the victims were a woman and her child, family members of one of the suspects, Olabode Ojo, as well as Fisayo Oladipo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Police Commissioner Wilfred Afolabi revealed that the violence stemmed from a clash between the Eiye and Aiye confraternities. Several of the suspects were already on the police’s wanted list, with some confessing to their involvement in the cult activities.
Key arrests included Gbenga Bisi and Gbenga Esther, apprehended at a hideout where officers recovered a double-barrel, cut-to-size gun, expended cartridges, and other ammunition. Another suspect, Olamide Ogunseyila, admitted to being an active member of a cult group.
The police have intensified their efforts to track down remaining suspects, including a notorious figure identified as Steven Dada, alias “Ogodo.” Commissioner Afolabi assured the public that thorough investigations are underway to ensure justice and restore peace in the affected community.
