Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for fostering an enabling environment that ensured the peaceful conduct of the APC governorship primary on Saturday. Aiyedatiwa made this known during his acceptance speech after emerging as the party's candidate for the November 16 governorship election in the state.

The Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee for Ondo State and Governor of Kogi, Usman Ododo, declared Aiyedatiwa as the winner of the primary, noting that he garnered 48,569 votes. This was a significant lead over his closest rival, Mr. Mayowa Akinfolarin, who secured 15,343 votes out of 95,178 valid votes cast.

Aiyedatiwa also extended his appreciation to the national and state working committee of the APC for ensuring that the "best candidate emerged" as the party's flagbearer. He commended the other contestants for their sportsmanship and called on them to unite with him to secure victory for the party in the forthcoming election.

Acknowledging the inevitability of differences in democracy, Aiyedatiwa emphasized the need to move past grievances and work together to maintain the party's position in power. He urged all stakeholders to join hands to ensure the party's success in the November election.
