Dr. Josef Onoh, former spokesman for President Bola Tinubu’s South East campaign, has fired back at comedian Muhammad Jamil, known as Jadda Garko, for accusing the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, of neglecting northern roads in favor of southern projects. Onoh dismissed the claims as uninformed and ethnically biased, saying Garko is misleading the public and stoking division among Nigerians.
Garko had accused Umahi of tribalism, alleging that the minister prioritized road infrastructure in the south over the north. Onoh refuted this, stating that the Tinubu administration’s "Renewed Hope" infrastructure projects are evenly distributed across all geopolitical zones. He noted that 52% of the Renewed Hope Legacy projects are in the north, contrary to Garko's claims.
Onoh further explained that insecurity in some parts of the north hampers road construction efforts, but projects are still being implemented. He highlighted ongoing roadworks in several northern states, emphasizing transparency and fairness in the government’s approach to national infrastructure development.
In his final remarks, Onoh advised Garko to focus on creating political slogans for the future instead of making divisive comments. He warned that politics and public service are serious matters, far removed from entertainment or comedy.
