The Oyo State Government has lifted the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed on 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park following ongoing security operations to rescue pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area.

The announcement was made on Saturday in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade.

According to the government, residents in the affected areas can now resume their normal daily activities, while security agencies continue efforts to secure the release of the kidnapped victims and restore peace.

"The government is closely monitoring the security situation, and efforts are ongoing to bring the kidnapping episode to an end," Oyelade said.

The curfew was first introduced for 48 hours from June 24, running daily between 4 p.m. and 8 a.m., before it was extended by another 24 hours to support security operations against kidnappers and other criminal groups operating around the Old Oyo National Park.
