The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Oyo State has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for approving a new minimum wage of N80,000 for state workers, a decision hailed as groundbreaking. According to the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, the approval came after recommendations from a government-appointed technical committee.
NLC Chairman Kayode Martins praised the increase, stating, “The governor has once again proven himself as a listening leader and a true trailblazer. This is the first time state workers will earn more than their federal counterparts.” He added that this boost will enhance morale and drive productivity among workers, who are grateful for the governor’s dedication to their welfare.
Martins urged the negotiation team to ensure fair adjustments across the board, enabling all employees to benefit. He reaffirmed the NLC’s commitment to supporting the Makinde administration in its efforts to uplift workers' well-being.
