PDP Summons Nyesom Wike Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has summoned the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over allegations of anti-party activities. This was confirmed by the PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, during an appearance on Channels Television’s program, *Sunrise Daily*, on Monday.

Abdullahi revealed that Wike has been called to appear before the PDP disciplinary committee, which is headed by elder statesman Chief Tom Ikimi. The committee was established by the party’s National Working Committee to address issues of anti-party activities among members.

"Three weeks ago, we put up two committees in place, that of reconciliation and disciplinary, and Nyesom Wike is one of the persons to face the disciplinary committee," Abdullahi stated. "The disciplinary committee will look into issues of anti-party activities. We’ve been receiving petitions regarding anti-party activities or sabotaging the party throughout the primary, leading to where we are now."

The decision to summon Wike comes amid growing discontent within the PDP over his recent actions and statements. Abdullahi specifically condemned Wike’s remarks about “putting fire in their states,” referring to PDP governors, calling it "wrong and unacceptable."

Wike's recent comments have sparked controversy, particularly his expression of satisfaction with his role in President Bola Tinubu’s administration. This has led to criticism from within the PDP, especially as Wike continues to threaten political consequences for PDP governors who interfere in the party’s affairs in Rivers State.

The FCT Minister, in a bold statement during the PDP Congress in Port Harcourt, warned that any PDP governor who tries to meddle in the state’s political matters would face severe repercussions. He also dismissively suggested that those displeased with his role in Tinubu's government should "go and hug the transformer."

The PDP’s move to summon Wike indicates the party’s intention to address internal dissent and enforce discipline among its members. The outcome of this disciplinary process could have significant implications for Wike’s future within the party.
