The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a fake soldier and three suspected car thieves after a lone accident involving a stolen vehicle in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Dutse. He said the incident happened at about 7:50 a.m. on September 8 in Sabon Sara village.
“Operatives from Kafin Hausa Division arrested the suspects after they fled the scene of the accident,” he stated.
The suspects, all from Kano State, were identified as Kabiru Musa, 35, of Rimin Kebe Quarters; Umar Ali, 25, of Haye Quarters; and Sabiu Bashir, 25, of Tokarawa village.
Adam said the arrests followed a report on September 7 about the theft of a blue Golf saloon vehicle with registration number MGA 108 JG from Agura Motor Park, Kafin Hausa.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Kabiru Musa falsely claimed to be a Lance Corporal with the 102 Guard Brigade, Abuja. Checks by the State CID confirmed he was an impersonator.
A search of Kabiru’s belongings uncovered seven ATM cards, two driver’s licences, and other items linked to fraudulent activities.
Adam added that the suspects have been charged to court after investigations were concluded.
Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, commended the Kafin Hausa Division for the swift operation and assured residents of the command’s commitment to tackling crime.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.
The latest arrests add to a series of crackdowns by the Jigawa police, including the recovery of a stolen Kia Sorento in July and the arrest of an ex-convict and other notorious thieves earlier in March.
