The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has pledged to ensure a fair and impartial governorship election in Ondo State, scheduled for November 16, 2024. Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun made the commitment during a meeting at the Goodluck Ebele International Peacekeeping Hall in Abuja on Tuesday. The gathering included Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) from various formations across the country.
IGP Egbetokun emphasized the NPF's dedication to impartiality, professionalism, and upholding democratic values during the election. To reinforce these principles, police personnel will undergo rigorous training sessions focused on conflict resolution and maintaining public order throughout the electoral process.

The meeting also laid out plans for a senior police officers' conference and retreat in Abeokuta, Ogun State, from November 25 to 28, 2024, aimed at fostering camaraderie, teamwork, and collaboration within the force and with community stakeholders.
In related developments, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that the collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) will begin on Thursday. INEC has printed 89,777 new PVCs for registered voters, including 58,708 new voters and 31,069 individuals requesting transfers, updates, or replacements of lost or damaged PVCs. The collection will be available at 221 centers across Ondo State.
The NPF, in collaboration with INEC, is committed to ensuring the success of the election and maintaining law and order throughout the process.
