The police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad. This follows the invitation of Mohbad's family and individuals mentioned in the probe of the illegal embalming of his body after his death.
Boluwatife Adeyemo, Mohbad's Personal Assistant, was interrogated at the Zone 2 Police Headquarters in Lagos in the presence of the deceased's parents, Joseph and Abosede. The police have requested further interrogation of all those mentioned in Adeyemo's statement.
According to Monisola Odumosu, the head of the family's legal team, a second interrogatory meeting was held at the Zone 2 Police Headquarters in Lagos. The police are working to identify the person responsible for the illegal embalming of Mohbad's body.
The family's legal team had earlier petitioned the police, alleging that Adeyemo had embalmed Mohbad's body, which violates the Coroner's System Law. The police have asked for further interrogation of all individuals mentioned in Adeyemo's statement.
Following Mohbad's death, Darosha, Mohbad's cousin, had stated on social media that he had applied salt to Mohbad's chest to preserve his body before the family arrived. This sparked controversy and led to the investigation into the illegal embalming.
Mohbad's father had claimed that his son's body was already embalmed when he arrived at the deceased's home the day he died. Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music, died at the age of 27, with his death sparking controversy and leading to the arrest of Naira Marley and others.
The body of Mohbad was exhumed for an autopsy, and the toxicology test to determine the cause of death has been concluded, with the results awaited for further analysis.
