The Nigeria Police Force has disowned a viral recruitment notice circulating on social media, describing it as fake and misleading.
The document, titled “Nigeria Police Force Recruitment Exercise 2025”, had invited applications from SSCE, OND, HND, and B.Sc. holders, outlining alleged requirements and procedures for a recruitment exercise scheduled to begin on September 22.
It claimed applicants must be Nigerian citizens with a valid National Identification Number, within stipulated age brackets, physically and mentally fit, and with minimum height standards of 1.67 metres for men and 1.64 metres for women. The notice also detailed supposed application steps through an online portal.
However, the police, in a post on their verified X handle on Thursday, dismissed the document as fraudulent, stamping it “FAKE” across its face.
The clarification comes weeks after the Police Service Commission had similarly warned Nigerians to disregard online adverts about the 2025 recruitment exercise. In an August 30 statement, PSC spokesman Ikechukwu Ani stressed that no such process had commenced and urged applicants to wait for official announcements.
Both the NPF and PSC cautioned the public against falling victim to recruitment scams and reiterated that genuine information on police enlistment would only be issued through their official channels.
