Police kill three suspected Kidnappers in Niger

Police in Niger State have shot dead three suspected kidnappers and rescued a victim during an operation in Kokolo Forest, Magama Local Government Area.

 

The state police spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, said the operation happened on September 12 after officers received intelligence about kidnappers hiding in the forest. A special task force team, working with vigilantes, stormed the area at about 6:30 a.m. and engaged the suspects in a gun battle.

 

Three kidnappers were killed, while others escaped with gunshot wounds. Police recovered two AK-47 rifles, 49 rounds of ammunition, and rescued a victim safely.

 

Abiodun urged residents of nearby communities to alert security agencies if they notice anyone with unexplained gunshot injuries.

 

In a related development, police in Ogun State also killed two suspected kidnappers during a gunfight in the Owode-Egba area. Three abducted victims from Ajebo community were rescued unhurt in the operation.

 

Similarly, on September 17, Delta State Police Command announced that officers shot dead two kidnappers during a gun battle at the Owa Ekei Boji Boji Owa axis in Ika North-East LGA.
