The suspected mastermind of the March 28, 2022 Kaduna-Abuja train attack, Ibrahim Abdullahi (aka Mande), along with his accomplice, Auwal Ayuba, were paraded by the Police. This was part of efforts to apprehend criminals terrorizing the Kaduna-Abuja Highway and its environs.

Abdullahi, who was also involved in the abduction of students from Greenfield University in 2021, was arrested in January this year at the Abuja-Kaduna Road flyover by Rido Junction. He confessed to being the leader of the Kaduna-Abuja Highway kidnap syndicate.

Ayuba, on the other hand, was arrested by vigilante members on April 27, 2024, and confessed to being a member of a kidnapping gang operating in Kubacha, Jere, and Katari axis.

During the parade, Ayuba admitted his involvement in the train attack and claimed he was later "sold" to the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP). However, Abdullahi denied participating in the train attack or knowing Ayuba.

The Police also disclosed the arrest of 278 other criminals and the rescue of 158 kidnap victims by the Kaduna State Police Command between January and the present. They attributed these successes to strategic initiatives implemented along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, including the deployment of a helicopter to serve as an escort for trains, especially in the evenings.

The Police reiterated their commitment to upholding the rule of law, ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, and combating criminal activities across the country.
