Police attached to the Abia State command raided a baby factory in Aba, rescuing 16 pregnant girls and eight children. The location of the baby factory was not disclosed as investigations were ongoing. Maureen Chinaka, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the operation, stating that the police operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) also rescued eight children from the illegal home.
The pregnant girls, mostly from neighbouring Akwa Ibom and Cross River states, were under the custody of Mrs. Onyinyechi Okoro (29) and Mr. Ekene Okezie (32).
Both suspects are from different local government areas in Imo and Abia States, respectively. The police were able to achieve this success due to credible intelligence, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend other syndicates linked to the group.
