Police Raid Kills Three Hoodlums in Ebonyi State Crackdown, Five Arrested

The Ebonyi State Police Command announced on Friday, March 22, that its officers conducted a raid on a camp of hoodlums terrorizing the state, resulting in the death of three suspects and the arrest of five others. According to Joshua Ukandu, the command's spokesperson, the raid was carried out in collaboration with other security agencies in a forest located at Omini community in Izzi LGA of the state.

During the operation, the gunmen opened fire on the security operatives, leading to a shootout in which three of the gunmen were neutralized. Three Toyota Sienna vehicles, which had been snatched from different individuals and used by the hoodlums for criminal activities, were recovered at the camp. The exhibits recovered at the den indicated that the gang is responsible for recent attacks and the killing of police officers within the state.

Joshua Ukandu stated, “Items recovered from them include one (1) AK47 rifle with sixteen (16) rounds of live ammunition, A bag containing two thousand (2,000) rounds of live ammunition, a Police Warrant Card, a portrait of an unidentified person, One (1) Itel phone and One (1) motorcycle.” The Commissioner of Police, Augustina Ogbodo, commended the officers involved in the operation for their bravery and assured residents of the state of the command’s commitment to fighting crime and ensuring the protection of lives and properties.
