The Kogi State Police Command has successfully rescued five victims who were kidnapped earlier in the Aresuare area of Ajaokota, Kogi Central. The victims were rescued in Adogo forest near Ajaokota by the police led by SP Yusuf Hantsi in collaboration with local vigilantes.

According to SP William Aya, the state police public relations officer, the victims were kidnapped on May 17, 2024, while on transit along the Ajaokuta-Adogo road. The police operatives conducted a rescue mission, combed the bush, and invaded the kidnappers' camp. A gun duel ensued, but due to the superior firepower of the team, the kidnappers abandoned their victims and fled. Fortunately, all the victims were rescued unhurt.

In another incident, armed hoodlums in an unregistered Golden-colored Muzzle Camry went to the Ojode area in Ankpa and started shooting sporadically.
