Power supply drops below 4,000MW as Dangote/PENGASSAN face-off enters day 2

Light don drop again for Nigeria — supply don fall below 4,000 megawatts because oil and gas workers dey fight Dangote Refinery. The wahala start after the company reportedly sack about 800 workers, and PENGASSAN (the workers’ union) enter strike.

 

As dem strike, gas no reach power plants well, so electricity wey dey 4,300MW before don drop to around 3,600MW. Na Abuja, Ikeja and Eko DisCo still collect the highest share. Na mainly Delta and Egbin power plants dey supply the little light wey dey.

 

To avoid total blackout, the people wey dey control the national grid boost hydro stations and adjust how dem share the light.

 

For now, dem say the grid still stable, but until the strike end, power no go balance well.
