President Tinubu Approves N70,000 Minimum Wage for Nigerian Workers

President Bola Tinubu has approved a N70,000 minimum wage for Nigerian workers, with a commitment to review the national minimum wage law every three years. This announcement was made during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, stated that President Tinubu also pledged to support the private sector and regional governments in implementing the new minimum wage. This marks the second meeting between the President and labor leaders in a week.

In related developments, President Tinubu has initiated the payment of N32 billion in student loans, launched a student loan fund, and promised to address the demands of university unions regarding four months of unpaid salaries. The labor leaders praised President Tinubu for his proactive measures and commitment to improving workers' welfare.
