President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of four new members to the Governing Council of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to fill existing vacancies and enhance the board's capacity.

In a statement released on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the appointments are aimed at fortifying the NCDMB’s role in local content development within Nigeria's oil and gas industry.

The newly appointed members are Mr. Olusegun Omosehin of the National Insurance Commission, Engr. Wole Ogunsanya of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria, Sam Onyechi, who represents the Nigerian Content Consultative Forum, and Barrister Owei Oyanbo from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

President Tinubu encouraged the new appointees to leverage their expertise to drive further progress in local content development, which remains critical to the nation's oil and gas sector.

The statement further explained that these appointments come as a result of the exit of previous institutional representatives from the Governing Council. The NCDMB’s Governing Council, established under Section 69 of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act, 2010, is composed of representatives from key institutions, including the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria, the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, Nigerian Content Consultative Forum, and the National Insurance Commission.
