President Tinubu Calls for Value System Shift to Address Nigeria’s Challenges

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emphasized the need for a shift in the nation's value system to tackle economic and security challenges. This call came during a meeting with a National Assembly delegation led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Monday, in celebration of Eid-el-Kabir. The delegation also included Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu condemned acts of sabotage such as vandalism of rail tracks and theft of electric cables. He urged Nigerians to adopt a more productive and patriotic mindset to overcome poverty, suffering, banditry, and terrorism. “Good economics at a harsh time is the challenge that we must face... I will not turn my back on Nigeria,” Tinubu stated.

The President praised the National Assembly's support, which has facilitated significant progress in his administration. He called for an end to economic sabotage and rent-seeking behaviors, emphasizing the importance of changing the national mindset. “We must embrace the campaign to change our value system,” Tinubu declared, highlighting the collective responsibility to address the nation's hardships.

After the meeting, Senate President Akpabio expressed gratitude for the President's leadership and discussed plans for legislative improvements to enhance the ease of doing business. Following the National Assembly meeting, President Tinubu met with the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, continuing his engagements focused on national development.
