President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the rescheduling of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting following the death of Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja. Originally planned for Wednesday, the meeting has been postponed in a mark of respect for General Lagbaja, who passed away on Tuesday night. A new date for the FEC meeting will be announced soon.
In a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tinubu also directed that flags be flown at half-staff nationwide for seven days in honor of the late general. General Lagbaja served as Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff from June 19, 2023, until his untimely death on November 5, 2024.
President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of General Lagbaja, as well as to the Nigerian Armed Forces, mourning the loss of a dedicated military leader. He praised Lagbaja’s service and contributions, emphasizing his commitment to Nigeria's security.
The nation mourns alongside the Nigerian Armed Forces as flags fly at half-mast, honoring a leader who gave his all in service to his country.
