President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to attend a joint sitting of the Senate and House of Representatives in Abuja to mark 25 years of unbroken democracy. The special session will take place in the House of Representatives Chamber within the National Assembly complex.
Accompanying President Tinubu will be former heads of state, party leaders, governors, and former political office holders. During the session, the President is scheduled to inaugurate the National Assembly Library, named in his honor.
Key figures expected at the event include former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, who will present a talk on “Reflections on the Journey to Democracy.” Former Senate President, Senator David Mark, will discuss the Senate's progress, while former House Speaker and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, will reflect on the House’s achievements.
The session will be presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and will feature prominent attendees such as Vice President Kashim Shettima and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume. The theme of the session is “25 years of the National Assembly: Lessons and opportunities,” with President Tinubu addressing the parliament.
