Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade has been announced as the new Alaafin of Oyo, following the approval of Governor Seyi Makinde. The decision was confirmed in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, who revealed that Owoade’s selection was based on thorough consultations and divinations by the Oyomesi.
The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Ojo, expressed relief that the announcement resolves the socio-legal disputes that arose after the passing of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, on April 22, 2022. Ojo described the development as a significant moment in Oyo's history, calling for unity and celebration among the citizens.
