PSC Promotes Senior Officers, Warns Against Civil Matter Interference

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of Commissioners of Police (CP) Garba Ahmed (Yobe State Command), Nemi Edwin Osigoboka Iwo (Border Patrol), and Salman Garba Dogo (Kwara State Command) to Assistant Inspectors General (AIG) of Police.

  • AIG Garba Ahmed: Formerly Deputy Commissioner of Operations in Enugu and Oyo States.
  • AIG Nemi Iwo: Former CP Force Intelligence, Edo State Command, and CP CTU at Force Headquarters.
  • AIG Salman Dogo: Former CP General Intelligence, Force CID, and CP Kano State.

Additionally, 16 Deputy Commissioners were promoted to substantive Commissioners of Police (CP), including Cyriacus Enechukwu, Gombit Kopshella Bangs, Eloho Edwin Okpoziakpo, Rosemary Okpoho Akpan, and Justine Obiora Oranwusi (Director of Works, Force Headquarters).

The promotions were announced following an extraordinary PSC meeting led by Chairman DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd.), attended by Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (Rtd.), DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd.), and Commission Secretary Onyemuchi Nnamani.

The promoted officers underwent written examinations and oral interviews. During the session, DIG Argungu warned officers against involvement in civil disputes such as land, marital, or debt issues, stressing that such matters belong in the courts. He vowed strict penalties for officers who overstep their jurisdiction and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to monitoring and supporting officers in their duties.
