Veteran Yoruba actress Jumoke George has received a wave of relief and emotional reprieve as her 41-year-old daughter, Adeola, who had been missing for four years, has been found alive in Mali.
The revelation came during an emotional update shared by actress and host Abiola Bayo, who spoke to Adeola via video call and confirmed her identity. Although Adeola has yet to directly contact her mother, Jumoke expressed immense relief knowing her daughter is alive and safe.
“I finally got to speak with Adeola and this is what she said. She hasn’t called her mom, but Mom is happy she’s alive,” Biola Bayo shared on Instagram.
Jumoke had earlier shared the heartbreaking story during an appearance on Bayo’s “Talk to B” show, where she detailed the circumstances surrounding Adeola’s disappearance. According to the actress, Adeola had been living with her grandmother in Ibadan and was last seen after telling the family she was heading to Lagos.
“My mother just called me one day to say that she hasn’t seen Deola who said she was coming to meet me in Lagos. I said I haven’t seen her,” Jumoke recalled tearfully.
In the same interview, the veteran thespian opened up about her ongoing health and financial struggles, revealing that she had been unable to honour acting jobs due to illness, and had to refund payments and borrow money for treatment. She said she needed about ₦400,000 for additional medical tests.
“I had to borrow money to refund someone who paid me for a role. I couldn't perform because of my health. I’m still trying to do more tests but I don’t know where to get the money,” she said, her voice breaking with emotion.
Bayo confirmed that Jumoke George is currently receiving treatment at a state hospital in Lagos, and that the next step would depend on the outcome of ongoing medical evaluations.
“Hopefully, she will be discharged or admitted after all her medical tests and reports. Not sure yet. Thank you to everyone for the support,” Bayo added.
The update has sparked an outpouring of sympathy and solidarity from fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry, many of whom have taken to social media to show support for Jumoke George and to pray for her full recovery and family reunion.
