Residents Applaud Oyo State Government for Partial Opening of Olodo Bridge

Residents and road users in Olodo area of Ibadan expressed their gratitude to the Oyo state government for fulfilling its promise to open up a section of the bridge under construction for pedestrians on April 30. The bridge had been devastated by flood following heavy rainfall on July 23, 2023, causing distress to residents and road users.

During a recent inspection of the bridge project, Governor Seyi Makinde pledged to open a section for pedestrians on April 30, with full access for motorists by May 30, 2024. Prof. Daud Sangodoyin, the state Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, urged caution and compliance with construction workers' directives while using the bridge, as work is ongoing.

Sangodoyin reaffirmed the state government's commitment to opening the bridge for other road users by May 22, 2024, stating, "His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde has directed that this bridge be completed and be used by our people." He assured that the first half of the bridge would be open for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic by the specified date.

Evangelist Elizabeth Olalowo, a resident, expressed relief and gratitude to the state government for addressing the community's concerns promptly. She described the partial opening of the bridge as a significant relief for the area's residents.
