The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has urged President Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency to prevent further killings and unrest in the region. The call was made by Rivers APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Tony Okocha, following the swearing-in of 23 new CTC Chairmen by Governor Siminialayi Fubara on Wednesday.
In addition, the Rivers APC distanced itself from remarks made by former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, claiming that 84 percent of Nigerians would not support Tinubu in the 2027 elections. The party emphasized that Amaechi's statement does not reflect the views of its members.
