The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State staged a protest on Thursday, October 3rd, against the upcoming local government area (LGA) elections scheduled for Saturday, October 5th. Led by party Chairman Chukwuemeka Aaron, PDP supporters defied heavy rain to march from their secretariat to the Police Headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.
During the protest, Aaron submitted a petition to the police, urging them not to participate in the LGA elections. He cited a court order that halted the election and instructed security agencies to refrain from providing support for the poll.

Accusing Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara of disregarding the rule of law, Aaron emphasized the importance of the police adhering to the court’s directive. He called on security forces to respect the legal order and abstain from securing the election.
The protest highlighted growing tensions in Rivers State, as the PDP continues its opposition to the scheduled elections, questioning the legitimacy of the process.
