The Rivers State Police Command has arrested one Kingsley Chinamezu, popularly known as Power Sharp, for the gruesome killing of his girlfriend, 44-year-old Miss Confidence Konenari Sunny, in Etche Local Government Area of the state.
Chinamezu, a 23-year-old native of Ogbo Hill in Abia State, allegedly macheted the victim to death in Umuebule community before fleeing to Egbeta village in Edo State, where he continued to issue violent threats to her family.
In a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the suspect was tracked and apprehended by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) through technical intelligence on August 15, 2025.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and narrated the events leading to the murder. He is currently undergoing further investigation and profiling for possible links to other crimes,” the statement read.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, commended the operatives for their swift action and assured the public that Rivers State would never be a safe haven for criminals.
He further warned perpetrators of violent crimes to desist, stressing that the long arm of the law would always catch up with offenders who will face the full wrath of justice.
