Rivers Police Warn Protest Organizers as Hoodlums Hijack Demonstrations

The Rivers State Police Command on Wednesday morning issued a warning stating that the original organizers of the ongoing hardship protest in the state have lost control of the crowd. According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the protest has been hijacked by hoodlums, resulting in criminal activities.

The police reported that these individuals were harassing residents, disrupting traffic, forcing passersby to attach leaflets to their vehicles, erecting canopies on main roads, destroying billboards, threatening traders, and setting tires ablaze.

The statement advised protesters to confine their activities to designated areas, such as Abali Park and Pleasure Park, and warned that any disturbances would be firmly resisted. The police also called on parents and guardians to rein in their children and wards, emphasizing that any unlawful actions would lead to arrests and prosecutions.
