Former chairmen from 21 of Rivers State's 23 local government areas staged defiant protests in their respective councils, aligning themselves with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. The protests, despite a police advisory against such actions, unfolded with notable incidents.
In Buguma, Asari-Toru LGA's headquarters, ex-Chairman Onengiyeofori George led supporters in a spirited march, echoing solidarity songs for Wike. They brandished placards urging continued police presence at the council, criticizing Acting Chairman Sim Fubara and asserting "No Vacancy" in council leadership.

At Asari-Toru LGA, tensions escalated as alleged members of Asari Dokubo's private military attempted to disrupt the protest. Police intervention averted violence, with demonstrators eventually submitting a protest letter to authorities.
Meanwhile, in Abonnema, Akuku-Toru LGA, another group backed the ongoing police closure of council premises. The protests stem from a recent police takeover of all 23 LGA secretariats amid a tenure crisis that resulted in three fatalities.
