The Rivers State House of Assembly has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi, following allegations of age falsification.
The matter was raised during Thursday's plenary after the House leader, Hon. Major Jack, presented documents that led to the allegations. The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Dumle Maol, then brought up the issue, stating, "These documents before me suggest that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, falsified his age in service. This is a very serious allegation, and I hope the House takes legislative notice."
Following a debate, the House agreed to write to the DSS, requesting a thorough investigation and a report on their findings. Speaker Martin Amaewhule also emphasized the importance of an investigation into the matter, saying, "The documents merely suggest a case of age falsification by the honorable Chief Judge of the state, Simeon Amadi. It is necessary to conduct an investigation."
After a voice vote, the Assembly resolved to formally ask the DSS to look into the allegations.
