Sporting manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly come to a verbal agreement in principle with Liverpool, as per Sky Germany. The 39-year-old is said to have discussed a potential three-year contract to potentially succeed Jurgen Klopp, although a finalized deal between the clubs is pending.
Liverpool sources have refuted these claims, calling them "wholly inaccurate." They stated that the club is evaluating various candidates and has not selected a preferred choice yet.
Amorim was also reportedly considered for the managerial position at Bayern Munich before Thomas Tuchel's departure. The Portuguese coach has an exit clause in his Sporting contract, which could facilitate a move this summer.
Klopp announced earlier this year his decision to step down after nearly nine successful years at Anfield, during which he led Liverpool to numerous prestigious titles. Liverpool is currently second in the Premier League, tied on points with Manchester City, with seven games remaining in the season. They are also set to face Atalanta in the Europa League quarter-finals.
