Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has emphasized that Nigerian youths now have no excuse for not pursuing their education, thanks to the Tinubu administration's newly introduced student loan scheme. Jibrin made this statement during an event at Amani Events Centre in Kano, where he distributed admission letters to beneficiaries of his postgraduate foreign scholarship program.
“The loan scheme is a beacon of hope for those interested in going to school, for they have no reason not to go to school any longer,” Jibrin stated, underscoring the government's commitment to making education accessible for all.
The Barau Jibrin Foundation, which sponsored 70 graduates from Kano State to pursue Master’s degrees abroad in fields like Artificial Intelligence, Information Security, and Robotics Science, highlights the importance of education in driving societal development. Five of the beneficiaries are women, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity in the program.

“This scholarship is designed to showcase our commitment to the educational development of our youths, who we consider as pillars of societal development,” Jibrin said. He added that the scholarship recipients were selected based on merit, without consideration for political party or geographical affiliation.
Jibrin called on the private sector and individuals to support the government’s efforts in revolutionizing the education sector, noting that the government alone cannot bear the full responsibility. He emphasized the importance of empowering the youth as a means of securing the future of the nation.
