Senate President Godswill Akpabio clarified on Tuesday that the Senate had not sanctioned the purchase of new presidential jets for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. The controversy arose following a recommendation from the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence to replace current presidential aircraft deemed faulty and unsafe. President Tinubu's recent use of a private jet to South Africa for an inauguration further fueled debate on the necessity of new planes.
