President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, praised President Bola Tinubu for backing Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, in restoring Abuja to its original Master Plan. Akpabio made these remarks during the kickoff of the Kugbo Bus Terminal construction in the FCT.

Akpabio highlighted that the development of the bus terminals signifies a major step in improving Abuja's infrastructure and public transportation system. He commended President Tinubu's administration for its commitment to the progress and modernization of Nigeria, noting that the new terminal would serve as a vital hub to enhance the movement of people, reduce traffic congestion, and improve the quality of life for residents and visitors.

The Senate President praised Wike for his transformative efforts in modernizing Abuja's infrastructure within just one year. Wike, in turn, expressed gratitude to Akpabio for initiating the project and thanked the Chairmen of the Senate and House Committees on FCT for their funding support in the 2024 Appropriation Act.

Wike assured that the Kugbo Bus Terminal would be completed within the next 12 to 15 months, ensuring commuter safety and addressing the issue of "One Chance" incidents. He added that the terminal would be operated by a private body, not the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), aiming to meet the standards of developed countries in the transportation sector.
