Former Kaduna lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has hailed the President-elect of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, for revolutionizing the political landscape in Africa. Sani made this observation via his X handle in a statement on Thursday.
At 44, Faye, a member of the banned African Patriots of Senegal for Work, Ethics and Fraternity (PASTEF), secured victory in the presidential election as part of an opposition coalition’s populist movement. He is set to succeed President Macky Sall on April 2nd.
Commenting on Faye's ascension, Sani drew an analogy, stating, “When Mbappe requested to play for Cameroon, they demanded money from him & then France gave him the opportunity to play for France. If he chooses to identify himself as French & not Cameroonian, he is right."
Sani further highlighted the significance of loyalty, noting, "Those who were with you in your moment of trials or need are your true friends." He concluded by emphasizing the transformative nature of Faye's presidency, remarking, “The new President of Senegal has changed the rule; behind every successful man there are two women.”
