Seven Killed In Jigawa Auto Crash As LG Chairman Sustains Injuries

At least seven people lost their lives in a fatal road accident along the Malam Madori–Hadejia Road in Jigawa State on Monday night.

The crash reportedly occurred around 9:45 p.m. at Kashin Dila Junction and involved a Toyota Starlet and a black Mercedes-Benz GLK.

According to eyewitness accounts, the Toyota Starlet, driven by one Adamu Dakido, was transporting passengers from Hadejia to Malam Madori when it collided head-on with the Mercedes-Benz GLK.

Sources disclosed that the GLK was carrying the Chairman of Kafin Hausa Local Government Area and his driver, who were travelling from Gumel to Kafin Hausa at the time of the incident.

The impact of the collision was said to have been severe, killing all six occupants of the Toyota Starlet instantly.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz GLK also reportedly died on the spot.

However, the Kafin Hausa Local Government chairman survived the crash but sustained varying degrees of injuries. He was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.

Police officers attached to a patrol team responded to the scene shortly after the accident, evacuating the injured official and the bodies of the victims to the General Hospital in Hadejia.

Although efforts to get an official statement from the Jigawa State Police Command were unsuccessful, a source within the command confirmed that the accident occurred and that investigations had begun.

According to the source, police officers secured the scene and have commenced efforts to determine the cause of the fatal collision.
