The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, is currently holding a closed-door meeting with over 40 ministers from President Bola Tinubu's cabinet. The meeting addresses the proposed 'EndBadGovernance' nationwide protest scheduled between August 1 and 10, which is driven by rising living costs and economic hardship in Nigeria.
Reports of the planned protest have put police and other security operatives on high alert. President Tinubu previously appealed to the protesters to cancel the planned demonstration. The meeting aims to discuss strategies and responses to the protest.
