Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb ‘Portable’ Okikiola, was arraigned on Thursday, February 19, at the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, following allegations of assaulting officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA).
The 30-year-old was declared wanted after repeatedly ignoring police invitations in connection with the arrest and arraignment of nine of his protégés earlier this month.
Portable faced a five-count charge, including conspiracy, assault, obstruction of duty, possession of dangerous weapons (cutlasses and firearms), and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
His lawyer, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, appealed to the court for bail, stating that the singer was now remorseful and had learned his lesson.
Magistrate O. L. Oke granted Portable bail in the sum of N2 million, with one surety in like sum.
The case has been adjourned to March 5 for trial.
This development follows the February 6 arraignment of Portable’s nine protégés, who faced similar charges.
