A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to social media influencer and blogger Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Verydarkman. Otse, who had been in detention for almost three weeks, was released on Monday after fulfilling his bail conditions, though the specifics of these conditions remain unclear at this time.
A viral video on Twitter shows Verydarkman reuniting with his fans upon his release. Popular Nigerian blogger Tunde Ednut also confirmed the news in an Instagram post, stating, “THIS MORNING: VeryDarkMan seen in court this morning. Bail has been granted to him, and arrangements are currently being made. He will be home once he finishes that.”
The Nation reported that the Federal High Court in Abuja had remanded Verydarkman on charges of cybercrime on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. The police charge sheets revealed that he faced five counts related to cyberstalking. One charge alleged that he posted videos on his Instagram account, ‘VeryDarkBlackman,’ containing information that was “grossly offensive, pornographic, or of an indecent, obscene, or menacing nature.”
