Sokoto

Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has announced the immediate implementation of the new N70,000 national minimum wage for all state civil servants, local government employees, and the Local Government Education Authority, effective Monday. This move is part of the government's commitment to improving the welfare of workers across the state.

Governor Aliyu urged civil servants to match this gesture with increased dedication, punctuality, and professionalism. He emphasized that the state administration expects renewed commitment from its workforce in exchange for the wage increase.

In addition to the wage implementation, the governor reassured workers that salaries would continue to be paid promptly between the 19th and 22nd of each month, reinforcing Sokoto’s reputation as a worker-friendly state.

Governor Aliyu also highlighted his administration's focus on clearing the backlog of unpaid gratuities for retired workers. With a monthly allocation of N500 million for this purpose and N300 million for recent retirees, the governor aims to ensure that no civil servant will be owed gratuities by the end of his tenure.
